I’m Kenan Sener, an educator and school leader with more than 25 years of experience in teaching, school leadership, and international school development. I created What Is Next in Education to explore how schools can respond thoughtfully to change while staying grounded in what matters most: the people they serve.

My experience has taught me that education is both a science and an art. Research helps us understand how students learn; vision, care, and creativity help us turn that understanding into meaningful experiences. I believe great schools pursue academic excellence while developing character, curiosity, empathy, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning.

I served as founding Head of School of Fulton Science Academy Private School from 2012 to 2024. Today, I support its strategic growth and global partnerships and lead ServePremier Education. I also teach educational leadership at Austin Peay State University and hold a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Johns Hopkins University.

I serve on the boards of the National Consortium of Secondary STEM Schools (NCSSS) and the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) and am a member of Leadership Atlanta’s Class of 2024. These experiences broaden my perspective through conversations with fellow educators and community leaders.

Through this blog, I bring research and practical leadership experience to questions about AI, gifted education, school culture, and the future of learning. My aim is to offer thoughtful perspectives, useful ideas, and questions worth discussing, helping educators and families consider what comes next with both an open mind and a clear sense of purpose.
