About Dr. Kenan Sener
I’m an educator and school leader with more than two decades of experience teaching, building schools, and supporting educators. I created What Is Next in Education to explore how schools can respond thoughtfully to change while keeping student learning, character, and human connection at the center.
Here, I share reflections and practical ideas on AI, leadership, gifted education, and the future of learning, drawing on my experience and educational research.
My Story
My career has taken me across classrooms, school leadership, and higher education. Over more than 25 years, I have worked as a teacher and administrator in public and private school settings. These experiences continue to shape the questions I ask about what makes schools effective and how we prepare young people for the future.
I served as the founding Head of School and CEO of Fulton Science Academy Private School in Alpharetta, Georgia, from 2012 to 2024. Helping build a school from its earliest years taught me that a strong vision matters, but its value depends on what students and teachers experience every day. Today, I continue supporting the school’s growth and international partnerships as Executive Director of Strategic Growth and Global Affairs.
As CEO of ServePremier Education, I work with schools and educational partners internationally, supporting school development, management, and professional learning. This work draws on the experience and practices developed at Fulton Science Academy while responding to the needs of different school communities.
I also serve as an adjunct faculty member at Austin Peay State University, teaching master’s-level educational leadership courses for aspiring principals. Working with future school leaders keeps me closely connected to the practical challenges educators face and the decisions that shape school communities.
I earned my doctorate in Educational Leadership from Johns Hopkins University, where my work explored technology integration and character education. These interests remain central to my thinking: how can schools embrace new possibilities while developing integrity, curiosity, empathy, and independent thought?
Beyond my work with individual schools, I serve on the boards of the Georgia Independent School Association and the National Consortium of STEM Schools. I am also a member of the Leadership Atlanta Class of 2024.
This blog is a place to connect those experiences with research, reflection, and practical ideas. I hope it helps educators think through difficult questions, challenge assumptions, and find approaches worth trying in their own schools.
Outside of education, I enjoy spending time with my wife, our three children, and our two cats in the Atlanta area.
